Change user names to reflect the new domain

Step 3 of 3 associated with completing the SSO configuration for servers in the new domain.

Perform this procedure only if the User Principal Name (UPN) of the users is entered as the User Name for any users at User Management Module that an administrator uses to create a profile for each employee in their organization. > Security > User Logins.

If the UPN is not entered as the User Name for any user at User Management > Security > User Logins, skip this step and continue to Break the trust between the original domain and the new domain.

If a UPN is entered as the User Name for any users at User Management > Security > User Logins, you must do the following to ensure the User Names specify the UPN that is appropriate for the new domain:

  • Export the all user profiles to a single text file.

  • Use a text editor to manually alter the user names in the text file so that each user name reflects the new UPN of the user.

  • Import the text file containing the altered user profiles.

Follow the instructions below:

  1. To determine whether the UPN is entered as the username for a user, do the following:

    1. Select User Management > Security > User Logins.

    2. At the bottom of the Name (left-hand) pane, click Select All and then click View.

    3. Examine the name that appears in the User Name field.

  2. Select User Management > Employees > Profiles.

  3. At the bottom of the Name (left-hand) pane, click Select All and then click View.

  4. Click Export.

  5. When prompted with Do you want to open or save this file?, click Save. Provide the file with a unique name and save it to a convenient directory on your hard drive.

  6. When prompted with Download Complete, click Open to open the file you have just saved. The file opens in Notepad.

  7. In the file, do the following:

    1. Select the existing User Name (the user’s UPN) of the first user The first user is an administrator account, that is created by the System Account, for a specific customer or Service Provider. The First User is used for system configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting. listed in the file.

    2. Manually replace the existing User Name. To do this, delete the existing User Name and type in the UPN that is appropriate for the user in the new domain. Do not alter any other values in the user’s profile listing.

    3. Click File > Save to save the file.

    4. Repeat steps a through c to change the User Name of every user in the file.

    5. Click File > Exit to exit Notepad.

  8. From the User Management > Employees > Profiles page, click Import.

  9. For the Mode: option, select Update.

  10. In the File to import: option, browse to and select the text file you altered in step 7.

  11. In the Check the fields to import and enter the column number from your file: section, select User Name.

  12. Click Save to import the user profiles containing all of the changed User Names.

If you receive an error message that says “Record number 1: Employee Internal ID could not be updated as the employee with the given ID could not be found, do the following:

Enter the value of 1 in the Number of lines to ignore at start of file: option and repeat steps 9 through 12.
