Change the Windows computer name/domain/workgroup membership on the server

Procedure 6 of 23 associated with Step 2 - Change the Computer Name, Domain, or Workgroup of an Individual Managed server.

Perform this procedure for every server you change.

Note that if HTTPS is enabled on the server you are changing, you will be instructed to replace the TLS Server Certificates in a subsequent procedure.

Even if you have changed to a new domain, use the OLD DOMAIN and OLD DOMAIN ACCOUNT in this procedure, until you are prompted to do otherwise.

In this step you must change one or more of these settings in the Windows operating system of the computer you are changing.

  • The computer name

  • The domain name

  • The workgroup name

For example, if you are changing only the computer name, change only the computer name setting. If you are changing both the computer name and domain, change both the computer name and domain.

  1. To change the server’s computer name, domain membership, or workgroup membership in the Windows operating system, follow this basic procedure:

    1. Open the Windows Control Panel on the server computer.

    2. Click the System icon.

    3. In the Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings section, click Change Settings.

    4. Click Change.

    5. Change the computer name, domain membership, and workgroup membership as appropriate.

The procedure above may vary slightly for different Windows operating system versions. If necessary, see the Microsoft MSDN site or consult with your Microsoft network administrator for more information.

  2. Reboot the server after changing the computer name, domain membership, or workgroup membership.

If you have stopped and disabled the Integration Server service as described in Stop and disable the Integration Server Service, make sure that the Integration Server service does not restart automatically after the server reboots.

If the service does restart automatically, stop and disable it again.
