View shift constraints

After you create Shift Collections and set shift constraints Feature in WFM that assists in limiting the number of shifts scheduled for each day for an organization during a specific date range for all of the shifts in a shift collection., view and analyze the values for constraints, scheduled shifts, and any exceeded values and breaches of the constraints for each Shift Collection.

Procedure

  1. From the calendar, select Period view.

  2. From Tools, select Constraints.

The Constraints pane appears on the bottom of the screen. If any other view is selected (Hours, Day or Week), a system message appears, prompting you to select Period view to set constraints.

  3. From the Shift Collection menu, select the Shift Collection for which you want to view constraints.

  4. For each organization, view the constraint that appears in the cells for specific dates.

Note that only the value of the constraint appears in the cell. To see the scheduled shifts for that day and organization, hover over the cell. The system displays a tool tip, showing the organization, date, Constraint and Scheduled values.

  5. Look for any constraints that appear in red, indicating that the number of scheduled shifts has exceeded the constraint.

To resolve, you can either remove some scheduled shifts or make the constraint a higher value.

  6. To view details about a constraint and scheduled shifts, select the cell you want.

From the Details pane, the system displays the number of assigned shifts in the Shift Collection, the constraint of the Shift Collection for the organization and selected date, and the number of employees currently scheduled for shifts in the Shift Collection.

    For example:

    Night Shifts (9)

    Company A, Jun 29 | Constraint: 125

    All scheduled employees (50)

    In this example:

  7. View any values that appear in red next to the organizations on the bottom pane.

This value represents the number of constraint breaches for the organization in the scheduling period. You can then view the cells that display the exceeded constraints in red.

For example, the value next to the organization is 3 and it is a parent organization. Expand the arrow next to the organization. You should see constraint breaches for the child organizations and the parent that equal 3.
