Set shift constraints
Set shift constraints Feature in WFM that assists in limiting the number of shifts scheduled for each day for an organization during a specific date range for all of the shifts in a shift collection. to help limit the number of shifts scheduled on specific days for an organization during a specific date range for all of the shifts in a shift collection Group of shifts in WFM used to control costs or resources around specific shifts. Typically, the shifts in a shift collection are related in some way, such as a group of night shifts or delivery shifts..

Procedure
-
From the calendar, select Period view.
-
From Tools, select Constraints.
The Constraints pane appears on the bottom of the screen. If any other view is selected (Hours, Day or Week), a system message appears, prompting you to select Period view to set constraints.
-
From the Shift Collection menu, select the Shift Collection for which you want to set constraints.
When you select a Shift Collection, only the organizations associated with the selected Shift Collection appear on the left side.
-
For the organization you want, select the cell of the day for which you want to set shift constraints.
There are four reasons why a cell is unavailable for editing:
-
You do not have the required permissions to edit shift constraints.
-
The cell is for a parent or a child organization. To edit shift constraints for any organization that has child organizations, expand the arrow next to the organization to edit the parent and its children.
-
The selected date is in the past.
-
The selected date is not included in the effective date range for the Shift Collection. To modify the effective date range, go to Work Administration. Under Work Rules, select Shift Collections. Select to edit the Shift Collection and then modify the effective date range accordingly.
-
-
In the cell, enter a value for the shift constraint for that day and organization. This value defines the maximum number of shifts that should be scheduled for all shifts in the selected Shift Collection for that day and organization. To save your changes, press either the <Tab> or <Enter> keys.
The Details pane for shift constraints appears on the right side. This pane displays the name of the Shift Collection, the number of assigned shifts in the Shift Collection (in parentheses), the selected organization and date, and the constraint value. If you have not yet entered a value, the system displays: Constraint: -
-
Continue setting constraints for the current or different Shift Collections, organizations, and dates within the current scheduling period.
-
Optional. From Home, select Generate Schedule and view any scheduling conflict messages related to exceeded constraints.
Shift constraints act as soft limitations during schedule generation. If the number of scheduled shifts exceeds the constraint for a specific day, a scheduling conflict message appears during the schedule generation.
